Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
With World War II raging, February of 1942 would be a special month for hockey fans, as recently retired NHL superstars gathered in the Original Six teams' arenas to play hockey in aid of the war effort. Members of this star-studded squad included HOFers Bill and Bun Cook, Ching Johnson, Eddie Shore, Tiny Thompson, Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau and Busher Jackson. This gorgeous 10 ½” x 13 ½” photo pictures the full team in uniform with names handwritten below, and it’s been matted to total dimensions of 14” x 17”. Along with the previously mentioned players, pictured are Hooley Smith, Herbie Lewis, Larry Aurie, Cooney Weiland, Red Horner, Cy Wentworth, George Owen, Frank Boucher and Marty Barry. The glossy print remains in beautiful condition, with just a few scratches present. The matte exhibits some toning along with light staining along the reverse, while the bottom left corner has broken through, but remains attached.
