Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Great vintage photo captures the young men who represented the University of Toronto and who captured the Senior Intercollegiate championship in 1923-24. Hockey Hall-of-Famer Conn Smythe is seated in the front row, to the left of team captain Lou Hudson. Hudson, who would later become Dr. Lou Hudson and the future Dr. Joe Sullivan, the goaltender at the far right, were all members of the '26-27 Allan Cup champion Toronto Grads who captured the Olympic gold medal at the 1928 Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Also pictured is Hugh Plaxton (back row, second from left), who led the Canadian Olympic team with 12 goals in 3 games. Photo has some flaws but remains a rare piece and will be accompanied by a photocopy of the original identifying the players, as well as other documentation profiling several "Grad" players.
