Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
This large grouping of photography features both the NHL along with miscellaneous examples including images not regularly seen. We have varying sizes, with the biggest concentration sitting in the 8” x 10” range give or take. Highlights include a gorgeous original Rice photo of an unidentified Maroons player, a dapper Frank Brimsek, King Clancy in his referees sweater, Red Dutton in his Americans uniform and more. There are also six Stanley Cup images including a full colour example along with a famous image from 1916 of Georges Vezina’s son sitting in the Cup. Best for last, we have a beautiful 10 ½” x 13 ¾” image adhered to a mount of game action featuring the NY Americans against Mike Karakas and the Chicago Black Hawks.
Also included in this photography grouping we have a large cache of images all relating to Vic Stasiuk that focus on his post-playing career, when he was coaching. We have a first year Oakland Seals team photo (8” x 10”) from 1967-68 along with 17 early Seals photos of individual players in varying sizes including Hicke, Smith and others. We have a second generation print (5 ½” x 11”) of the 1933 NHL golf tournament, with a number of executives pictured along with Sprague Cleghorn and a man that looks suspiciously like Ty Cobb. The majority of the photos remain in pleasing condition, with a number exhibiting varying degrees of wear, with the odd crease, fold or indentation, along with toning, surface, edge and corner wear. We should also note that 40 of the included photos are modern prints, and this includes heavy duplication.
