Allan Cup champions in 1939 and ’47, the Montreal Royals began life in the QAHA in 1932, and would play their last season in the EPHL in 1960-61. This lot contains 10 different programs from 1936-41, a menu from from Pete Morin night, Royals press guides from 1958 and ’59 and a pair of 8” x 10” photos showing the Memorial Cup being exhibited to Junior Royals supporters in 1949. The programs are single page fold-overs at 6 ¾” x 9 ¾” (when folded), and included are examples from 1935-36 (4, with 3 different including a 1936 Finals program vs the Aces), a pair from 1936-37, a pair from 1938-39 including an Allan Cup Playoffs example, one from 1940-41 and a single example from 1941-42. There is also a program insert from the QSHL finals in 1945.
Some of the players featured include Hodge, Curry and Mosdell in the press guides, along with Durnan, Imlach and Buddy O’Connor. The Morin menu remains in excellent condition and is 5” x 8” (folded), with the original blue tie string in place, while the Royals press guides are each 8 ½” x 11” and remain in very good condition with only light wear including a small cover tear. He programs themselves are in pleasing condition with just regular handling wear exhibited which includes center creases, toning, light surface/corner wear. The photos each show some wear, with tape residue along the top and bottom portion of each.
