Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Instantly recognizable and aesthetically pleasing, Babe Ruth signatures remain atop collector’s lists regarding desirability, with high grade specimens achieving holy grail status. We have a stunning example offered, placed within an attractive and substantial display. In Bronx blue with embossed name, numbers and logos, accomplishments are listed on each side, along with the Babe’s affectionate monikers of “The Bambino” and “The Sultan of Swat”. An image of Nat Fein’s “The Babe Bows Out” has been centralized, with a gorgeous signature cut inserted below featuring an outstanding and vibrant blue fountain pen signature, executed on off-white paper. The façade of the upper levels of Yankee Stadium are also present, running across the display beneath the signature in relief, with the years listed above of both the birth and death of the most beloved slugger in history. Set in an attractive dark-finished frame to full dimensions of 28 ½” x 40 ½”, with a PSA/DNA LOA stating the signature grade of Mint 9 to accompany.
We should note some light wear to the frame, especially at joints and along corners.
