Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Making his debut on the world stage as an 18 year old at the 1960 Summer Olympics, Cassius Clay would win gold, defeating Zbigniew Pietrzykowski of Poland in the light heavyweight division. We have a great group of 1960 Olympic boxing material, including a ticket for Clay’s final - from what we’re able to determine, along with the official Olympic boxing program and a pair of additional boxing full tickets. At 4” x 6”, the finals stub features the 1960 Rome logo with the image of a boxer, along with other pertinent information. The program is roughly 6” x 8 ¼”, with text in English, French and Italian. The accompanying full tickets are both 4” x 9 ¾”, and they remain in gorgeous condition.
The stub from the light heavyweight finals exhibits heavy wear, with creases, wrinkles and a pair of fold lines, with some staining also present, mostly on the reverse. The official program has some toning to the interior, along with light staining/spotting to both the front and back covers. Sections have also been filled out, showing which boxers were advancing, with a ballpoint notation on the reverse.
