Originally obtained from the personal collection of Lennart Haggroth, we have his 1962 (gold), 1963 (silver) and 1964 (silver) European Championships medals, along with his 1964 Winter Olympics participation medal and 1963 World Championships participation medal. A netminder who saw action with the Swedish National Team from 1960 to 1965, Haggroth later tackled alcoholism and drug addiction as a social worker before passing away at his home in the summer of 2016. The 1962, 1963 and 1964 examples are identical in size and design at 2”, with a netminder in relief along with the date below. The reverse features a French monogram of the IIHF. The 1964 Winter Olympics medal is 2.5” in diameter and composed of bronze from an edition of 5000, the Olympic rings are featured on the obverse along with “Innsbruck” and the date, with an image of the hamlet embossed on verso.
The last medal offered, Haggroth’s 1963 World Championships participation medal is roughly 1 ½” x 2”, with crossed hockey sticks along with “Stockholm” and the date, with a blank reverse. The 1964 Innsbruck medal show little wear, with the four remaining medals exhibiting handling and surface wear, with the odd small ding, groove, mark or abrasion.
