Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The Canadian actors in one of the most memorable hockey series of all time star here, with the 1972 Canada-Russia Series getting huge ratings as hockey observers were glued to their television sets! Henderson, the Esposito and Mahovlich brothers, Clarke, Cournoyer, Savard, Lapointe, Park, Stapleton, White, Bergman – they’re all here, with the cards of most looking to have had but one owner. Other than one multiple-creased Seiling card to be upgraded, there are none with unsightly creases. Intermittent dinged corners are spotted, resulting in grades of VG-EX, VG-EX+ and EX, if it not for the often-seen “prick” marks which sometimes affect O-Pee-Chee inserts. Usually spotted in the players’ hair, each card here includes one. Even toning (browning) on the back is also observed, except on cards of Stapleton and Pete Mahovlich. Centering is generally good/appealing, with a few off-centered examples present. What memories, eh?!
