Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A baker’s dozen of 1953 Topps cards leads chronologically here, with seven VG examples and the rest a notch or two lower, the numbers of the former being 7, 20, 28, 32, 35, 45, 46 and the latter being 7, 19, 32, 33, 64 and 67. The biggest representation comes from 1961, with however little star power, a little duplication and cards for the most part low grade (F-G, VG) . Meanwhile, a few semi-high numbers in VG and VG+ are notable; 477-Fox MVP, 490-Bunning, 492-Fairly RC and 495-Howard. Topps cards from 1963 are the condition leaders of the collection, with few creases spotted and VG-EX and EX cards dominating the mostly-common contingent and numbered between 100 and 222. The ’62 Topps cards, many of them with writing, are real low grade and give way to a Fleer issue featuring former players. Crease-free EX cards dominate and are joined by VG-EX examples in the two dozen from 1961 (no notable big names), while completing are 15 cards in various grades and from miscellaneous years, bringing the grand total to over 300.
