Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Despite beginning his NHL career on a 4-2 loss to Chicago on Oct 10th 1979, Wayne Gretzky would finish his rookie campaign tied with Marcel Dionne for the league lead with 137 points, more then enough to garner the impressive Hart Memorial as the league’s MVP. We have a 1979-80 Edmonton Oilers rookie season vintage jersey, and it’s been signed by the HOF icon. A Sandow creation with labeling present along the collar, an embroidered Maska crest sits on the back bottom hem. Styled with the familiar oil drop team crest, the nylon/cotton V-neck has been accented with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers and nameplate – correct style for the era, we’re unsure if original or added later. The Edmonton 75th anniversary crest also resides over the right shoulder. Wayne has signed within the first “9” on verso, and the dark signature displays well.
With just a tiny bit of wear to the team crest to note, the jersey survives in gorgeous condition.
