Hockey contracts are always sought after by collectors, and for good reason. A particular moment in time is captured for a specific player, with wonderful pertinent information accessible including contemporary salary. We have a pair of interesting Standard Player’s Contracts for Maple Leafs goaltenders Curt Ridley and Jim Rutherford, with added addendums for each. The Rutherford example originates from the 1980-81 NHL season, with the Ontario native to earn $130,000.00 for the season, along with $125,000.00 for the follow up campaign in 1981-82. The addendum lists bonuses for Rutherford, including $600.00 for each additional game played throughout the season, along with a $2,500.00 bonus for placing within the top 8 at the season’s conclusion. Rutherford, Leafs GM Gord Stellick and HOFer Punch Imlach have all signed the addendum with flawless signatures, with these same individuals signing Rutherford’s contract. The Ridley contract hails from the 1981-82 NHL season, with a salary of $80,000.00 listed, along with a pay cut of $55,000.00 for demotion to the minors. The addendum lists a number of bonuses dependant on goals against averages, including the nifty sum of $4,500.00 for completing the season with the league’s best GAA. Leafs GM Gord Stellick and HOFer Punch Imlach have signed the contract with beautiful signatures, with just Stellick signing the addendum. Both contracts remain in gorgeous condition, with handling wear present to both addendums including edge wear along the top portion of the Ridley example.
