Russian center Igor Korolev was among a number of former NHL players who perished in the 2011 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl airplane crash, which killed all members of the KHL team on the eve of its season opener. Korolev’s 2001-02 Chicago Blackhawks game-worn jersey has some nice wear to report, including black marks on the front tail and sleeves and reddish-brown stains low on the right sleeve. Korolev had 29 points in 82 games in his first of three seasons in Chicago after he was acquired in an offseason trade with Toronto. Blackhawks “Game-Worn 2001-2002 2 of 2” team patch is sewn inside the rear hem and a size 56 flag tag sits in the back of the neck. Some yellowing to the nameplate, likely from the adhesive applied underneath before it was sewn on. Comes with a Blackhawks LOA signed by GM Mike Smith that this gamer was from the second half of the 2001-02 season.
