Iconic in the well-loved movie monster genre, Creature from the Black Lagoon was released in 1954 and was originally filmed in 3D, with the fading of the early-1950s fad allowing for 2D showings as well. Directed by Jack Arnold, an Amazonian expedition discovers a prehistoric link between sea and land animals in the form of a fossilized skeletal hand with webbed fingers, with a return for additional specimens sought only to uncover “living” proof. We have a set of four typically-sized lobby cards for the cult classic film, with each signed by Lagoon heroine, Julia Adams. Three of the lobby cards feature images of the Gill-man, with the fourth picturing a soon-to-be female victim being whisked from the dangerous waters. Three of the lobby cards have also been signed by Adams in black marker, with the fourth signed in silver.
Well loved and displayed throughout their life, each feature reinforcements affixed to the reverse, despite the lack of tears, with toning present on each along with pinholes, creases, edge and corner wear. One example has a large tear from the bottom portion moving upwards, with this card also exhibiting material loss along the right border. Despite their lower technical grades, these lobby cards all display well.
