A staple in the canon of cult film classics among horror and zombie aficionados, Dawn of the Dead was director George A. Romero’s second installment in the Living Dead series, filmed over four months on a modest estimated budget of 1.5 million. Set amid an unidentified cataclysm of reanimated corpses, survivors of the unknown occurrence barricade themselves within a well-equipped shopping mall, with terror ensuing. We have a typically-sized one sheet poster from the 1978 film, and it’s been signed by writer/director George A. Romero. A generic zombie is pictured from the eyes-up, with the familiar “Dawn of the Dead” script placed below in bright red that literally jumps off the black background. Text placed along the top portion enticed the would-be film goer, while the MPAA warning of “scenes of violence which may be shocking” literally dragged them in. Thrice folded and in gorgeous condition, the poster exhibits prominent fold lines, with a single vertical fold line along with three horizontal examples. The colours remain especially bold and vibrant, with light wear along fold line intersections. Reverse-folded, very minor surface indentations are present, with all four corners remaining sharp. Romero has signed along the middle right in black marker, and the signature displays well against the lighter background.
Starring David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott H. Reininger, Gaylen Ross, David Crawford , David Early, Richard France, Howard Smith, Tom Savini, and George A. Romero. Directed by George Romero.
