The first overall selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, John Tavares has spent seven full and productive seasons on Long Island thus far, including the last three as team captain, with over 500 regular season games played. The Mississauga native has also represented Canada on the international stage on a number of occasions, winning gold at the Spengler Cup, World Juniors, World Cup and Winter Olympics. This Islanders captain’s jersey was worn by the superstar in 2015-16. Reebok size tagging is affixed to the collar including added black dot, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest partially embroidered in tri-colour tackle twill, the blue tie-neck has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with the inaugural season Brooklyn crest over the right shoulder, and Al Arbour memorial patch over the left. The team patch numbered “655501” sits on the inside hem, with a matching LOA to accompany.
Game-wear on the important jersey includes a large stick mark on the lower front, along with a few additional marks over the left sleeve. We should note that the previously mentioned black dot that has been added to the collar label signifies the garment as a “backup set” example, with these jersey’s used randomly throughout the season.
