Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Currently in his 12th NHL season with the Washington Capitals, Russian superstar Alexander Ovechkin continues to impress, with the winger arguably the most exciting player in the world to watch. A number of awards, records and accolades have been garnered, with Alexander the only player in NHL history to be named to the NHL First All-Star Team in each of his first five seasons. This Capitals jersey was worn by the future HOFer for only a single match, vs the Blue Jackets at the Verizon Center on March 31st, 2011. Size tagging is affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with an attractive Capitals’ crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the solid red V-neck has been embellished with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. A MeiGray patch numbered H00308 has been affixed to the inside hem, with a matching LOA to accompany.
We should also note that according to the MeiGray population report, this jersey is a "Red Set 2 w/C - One Game Only - Worn 3/31/11" example. Worn for just a single game, a fabric pull is visible near the right sleeve’s number, with a lone board burn over the left elbow.
