Selected in the first round by the Boston Bruins in 2011, Dougie Hamilton comes from an especially athletic family, with both parents competing in the 1984 Summer Olympics. This Bruins jersey was issued to the Toronto native in 2012-13, and it’s been signed. Size tagging sits along the collar including handwritten “27”, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the alternate crest that first saw use in 2008, the black V-neck has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with matching spoked-B crests over each shoulder along with the important Boston Strong patch over the right breast. A MeiGray patch numbered JH00321 sits on the inside hem with a matching LOA to accompany.
According to the MeiGray population report, the jersey is a "Third - Boston Strong Patch - Promotional Game 4/20/13 GI Charity Set" example. Hamilton has signed within the “7” on verso, and the signature displays well. Issued but never game-worn, Hamilton didn’t play in the April 20th 2013 charity game between the Bruins and the Penguins.
The Bruins took on the Penguins on Saturday April 20th, with both teams wearing special patches of unity and support, the Bruins with a Boston Strong ribbon in the blue and yellow colors of the Boston Marathon, and the Penguins wearing a "617" patch (Boston's area code). Both sets of jerseys were then auctioned off to raise money to support the victims of the bombings.
