Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Stars of the pre-NHL era star in this encapsulated lot, with the rookie card of all-time great Cyclone Tayor displaying shockingly bright vivid colors and leading the trio. Depicted in his Renfrew Millionaires sweater and the object of several bidding wars back in the day, Taylor had previously played with Portage La Prairie, Pittsburgh and Ottawa, as card #15 informs on the reverse. From the first hockey card set ever issued, the desirable antiquity is graded VG 3 by PSA and is joined by two cards from Imperial Tobacco's subsequent (1911-12)( C55) issue. The #1 card, picturing legendary goaltender Paddy Moran of Quebec Bulldog fame, displays well despite being labelled "Authentic - Altered" by PSA, while card #29, capturing yet another Hall of Famer, Jack Marshall as a Montreal Wanderer, is slabbed Good 2. Very good tobacco card acquisitions these will be!
