More of Imperial Tobacco’s striking colors are featured in this ensemble of C55 cards from 1911-12, with just over half (23) having been examined by professional graders. The cards of a pair of Canadiens, #39-Henri Dallaire and 43-Eugene Payan, lead condition-wise, earning marks of EX-MT 6 from PSA, with a third Hab, 37-Arthur Bernier, just behind at EX+ 5.5. An all-Hall of Fame lineup is slabbed EX 5 and includes 2-Hall, 6-Dunderdale, 11-Walsh, 28-Johnson, 35-Russell and 30-Hyland, the latter the sole example encapsulated by SGC. Coming in at VG-EX+ 4.5 is 32-Hern, with six VG-EX 4 examples present; 7-Mallen, 10-Kerr, 13-Currie (MC), 17-Darragh, 22-Gilmour and 34-Glass. After 44-Poulin’s card at VG+ 3.5 is a Hall of Fame foursome which includes 20-Cyclone Taylor and 42-Newsy Lalonde, as well as 1-Paddy Moran and 33-Roberts. Completing the PSA contributors are 19-Smith (Good+ 2.5) and 45-Laviolette (VG 3 (MK)). Meanwhile, big names among the raw cards are admittedly rough, with the Georges Vezina rookie barely intact and pieces missing from the cards of 4-Malone RC, 24-Cleghorn and 31-Ross. Others are P-F-G, with 27-Smaill (P) the “hand on stick” version. Not present is 41-Pitre.
