Imperial Tobacco’s landmark inaugural hockey card effort stars here and features numerous stars of the pre-NHL era. Twenty cards have been graded by PSA, with the lowdown as follows: Hall of Famer Tom Dunderdale’s card #14 is the condition leader at VG+ 3.5, while seven are slabbed VG 3, including key rookie cards of Newsy Lalonde, Lester Patrick and Art Ross (#8), the latter in an early PSA holder. Also at VG 3 are #s 2-LeSueur, 3-Roberts, 4-Holden, 6-Dey and 13-Decary, with 30-Johnson slabbed VG 3 (MC). Other encapsulated treasures are 21-Laviolette at Good+ 2.5, five at Good 2; 12-Art Ross, 22-Hern, 23-Pitre, 25-Bernier and 33-Marshall, with a pencil mark rendering the Cyclone Taylor RC Good 2 (MK). Similar at FR 1.5 (MK) is 17-Stuart, with 9-Campbell and 34-Ridpath at PR 1 and 5-Glass in an early KSA holder labeled 4-VGE. The other 13 (raw) cards are Poor with heavy creasing and/or back damage, with cards of HOFers Paddy Moran, Marty Walsh, Ernie Russell and Harry Hyland among them. Cards required to complete the coveted set are 1-Frank Patrick and 35-Marshall.
