Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
From the twilight of his legendary and especially lengthy career, we have a stick wielded by HOF icon Gordie Howe, from his time in the state of New England in the late-1970s. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model, “Howe G.” appears stamped-on, along with his “9”. The stick retain’s the tape original to Gordie on both the blade and handle, with marker across both side of the blade. An inscription is also present over the front side of the heel that reads “Gordie Howe 9#”, but this was added by an unknown hand and is not a Howe signature. Light use is exhibited on the lumber, with wear to the underside of the blade along with a few marks to the lower shaft. We should note that this is the model of stick employed by Howe while with both the New England Whalers of the WHA in 1978-79 and the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80.
