Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Considered by many to be the greatest defenceman of the Original Six era, Doug Harvey spent 14 seasons with the Bleu Blanc Rouge, garnering 6 James Norris Trophies as the league’s premiere defenceman while with his hometown Habs. We have a signed puck from the HOF legend. A Canadiens souvenir puck originating from the 1984-88 time period, a full colour Habs logo is featured on the face, with an NHL shield logo on the reverse. Harvey has signed along the bottom portion of the Canadiens logo in ballpoint, with some fading to the signature taking place. An extremely rare and seldom seen vehicle for Harvey’s John Hancock, an LOA from JSA will accompany.
Just light wear is visible on the important puck, including some loss to the NHL logo on the reverse, with no chips, grooves or gouges present. Doug Harvey would pass away from cirrhosis of the liver a week after his 65th birthday in 1989, and he was interred in the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal.
