Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Ingeniously wrapped for display purposes and preservation is this complete set of 24 O-Pee-Chee posters, the thin and fragile approximately 10” by 18” affairs originally folded several times and sold in wax packs. They came in attached pairs and there are eight such pairs still intact here; Hull/Lafleur, Dryden/Perreault, Cournoyer/Gilbert, Keon/Ullman, Plante/Worsley, Horton/Gamble, Pulford/Berenson and Martin/Tallon. The fashion in which the exact correct size of cardboard was used, so as not to perforate the “dotted lines” where they were to have been cut apart, along with the tightness of the clear plastic wrap, is admirable. The (separated) eight other posters are housed in the same fashion and include Orr/Unger, Tony Esposito/Kurtenbach, Ratelle/McKechnie and Phil Esposito/Canadiens team photo. Condition is quite attractive/pleasing, with minimal wear and creasing (other than the fold lines), and no nasty edge tears spotted. A couple of missing corners, (Berenson, Gamble), a tape stain at one corner and another missing on the Horton and more visible wear at a few of the fold lines of the Orr poster are to be aware of. All-in-all, a dandy ensemble, the likes of which, comes along infrequently.
