Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Seldom offered to the collecting community, manufacturers constantly produce prototype equipment, with the biggest names usually selected as test subjects. While some items make the cut, the overwhelming supply never sees NHL action. Originating from the personal collection of HOF star Eric Lindros, we have interesting prototype items that were used by Eric, with a pair of shoulder pads, along with a set of shin guards. As an added bonus, we also have a stick game-used by the superstar in 1995-96. We should also note that while used by Eric, it’s not known if the prototypes saw game action, or were just used in practices. A signed LOA from Eric Lindros will accompany these rarely seen prototypes.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Eric Lindros’ prototype shoulder pads. Produced by Bauer with screened-on identifiers, the “Supreme 5000” models feature “Spinal Gel Protection”, with added padding along each side for rib protection. Exhibiting light use with some wear to the material, the pads remain in excellent condition. 2) Eric Lindros’ prototype shin pads. Bauer Supreme 5000 models identical in style to the shoulder pads, identifiers have been screened-on, with cloth labels along the top section of each. Utilizing velcro strapping, the pads feature added calf protection that’s removable if so desired. Showing definite use, there is some light staining to the calf protector on the left shin pad. 3) Eric Lindros’ 1995-96 Philadelphia Flyers game-used stick. A Bauer Supreme model, “E Lindros” is stamped on, with a serial number of “050419 05” along the underside. The stick retains its original tape on the blade and “beehive-style” wrap on the handle. Great use is visible on the stick, with wear to the taped section of blade including puck marks, along with marks and abrasions to the shaft.
