Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
At the end of his first of three straight 50-goal seasons for Toronto, Rick Vaive played for Canada at the 1982 world championships. Vaive, who scored a Maple Leafs record 54 goals in 1981-82, had three goals and one assist for a Canadian squad led by Wayne Gretzky’s 14 points that won bronze in Finland. Rick’s 1982 Team Canada game-worn jersey is photo-matched to two digital images by the white mark to the right of the heat-screened white vinyl No. 22 on the right sleeve. Nice game use shows in board burns and marks on the sleeves, with five burn holes on the left sleeve and two on the tails at and behind the hip. Originally from Rick Vaive’s collection, it comes with his signed LOA.
Aside from “Vaive” spelled out in white twill letters sewn on a mesh nameplate on the back, Rick’s Team Canada gamer has heat-screened white vinyl identifiers. Flag tags in the back of the neck include a completely washed out Sandow SK manufacturers tag along with a washing instructions tag.
