Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The first netminder ever credited with a goal in the NHL, Billy Smith would spend his entire career with the New York Islanders after an initial 5 game introduction to the big leagues with Los Angeles in 1971-72. We have a stick used by the HOFer in the mid-1980s, and it’s been signed. A Victoriaville Pro model with solid black finish and white accents, “B Smith” appears stamped-on, with the stick retaining its original tape on the blade and knob. Great use is exhibited, with wear to the taped section of blade along with a few cracks to the paddle and blade, including a large example along the top side of the heel section. Smith has signed across the blade in thin silver paint pen, with the signature blending into the background somewhat. A COA will accompany.
