Noteworthy in the rich lexicon of baseball lore for both the famous 19th century Orioles that fostered unbelievable managerial talent along with being the birthplace of Babe Ruth, the modern Baltimore Orioles franchise was originally one of the AL's eight charter franchises when the league was established in 1901. The club was based for the majority of its early life in St. Louis, before relocating to Baltimore in 1954.
