Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Forever-popular are Shirriff coins, with the men who wrote hockey history some five decades ago starring in this very attractive ensemble. Featuring only minimal background toning, if at all, ("quite white" sums up the backgrounds), the set is in pleasing uniform condition, with no edge cracks or chips visible through the coin holders and binder pages - a very nice presentation, with a few cardboard coin holders to be changed. The white backs of the Red Wings and the blue backs of the Rangers have the almost-standard color discrepancies, with "Salada Foods" versions (70) outnumbering their "Shirriff" (50) counterparts. Finally, upon further inspection, a cracked blue backing of the #98 Jean Ratelle coin is spotted.
