Fall Classic finalists in both 2010 and 2011, the Texas Rangers have been members of the American League since 1961, playing in the West Division since 1972. We have a great group of 5 game-used items from the Rangers, spanning throughout the 1980s, from 1980 to 1989. Included are jerseys worn by Dave Hostetler and Tommy Dunbar in 1984 and Bobby Valentine in 1989, along with a batting helmet worn by Tommy Dunbar in 1984 and Rangers uniform pants originating from circa-1980. An LOA will accompany the Bobby Valentine game-worn Rangers jersey.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Dave Hostetler’s 1984 Texas Rangers game-worn jersey. Wilson size tagging sits along the collar, with a set/date swatch of “84 2”. Featuring “Rangers” across the chest in attractive script fashioned from dual-layer tackle twill, the solid red button-up has also been accented with matching front and verso number, with an alternate crest over the left sleeve. There is just some light sweat staining around the collar to mention. 2) Tommy Dunbar’s 1984 Texas Rangers game-worn jersey. Wilson size tagging sits along the collar, with a set/date swatch of “84 2”. Featuring “Rangers” across the chest in attractive script fashioned from dual-layer tackle twill, the solid blue button-up has also been accented with matching front and verso number, with an alternate crest over the left sleeve. With just some loose threading and wear to the alternate sleeve patch, the jersey remains in beautiful condition. 3) Bobby Valentine’s 1989 signed Texas Rangers game-worn home jersey. Rawlings labeling resides on the lower front tail along with a date/set tag of “Set 1 1989”. Featuring “Rangers” across the chest in attractive script fashioned from dual-layer tackle twill, the solid white button-up has also been accented with matching front and verso number, with “Valentine” affixed directly to the jersey in single twill. With some light sweat staining around the collar, Valentine has signed along the inside back collar, adding his number. 4) Tommy Dunbar’s 1984 Texas Rangers game-used helmet. An ABC model with Texas decal affixed, with “13” over the brim and reverse, there is also a “Dunbar” label beneath the reverse number. Heavy use is exhibited, with marks, scratches and abrasions present along with heavy wear to the interior. 5) Circa-1980 Texas Rangers game-worn uniform pants. Russell labeling is affixed to the inside back pocket, with the date/set swatch removed. Great use is exhibited, with heavy wear to the fabric along the lower sections along with a few small marks.
