Named after the American Royal, a livestock, horse and rodeo show and championship barbeque competition held annually in Kansas City since 1899, the Kansas City Royals entered the American League as an expansion franchise in 1969. We have a neat group of Royals items for your collecting consideration, with a game-worn jersey and batting helmet, along with a pair of Royals team jackets, 2 pairs of stirrups from the Kansas City A’s and an undershirt. 1) Brent Mayne’s 1991 Kansas City Royals game-worn road jersey. Rawlings labeling sits on the lower front left tail, along with a date swatch of “1991”. Styled with “Royals” across the chest in tackle twill, the baby blue button-up also has an alternate crest over the left sleeve. With just a few small marks visible on the front and verso, the jersey remains in beautiful condition. 2&3) Bret Saberhagen’s and Frank White’s 1980s Royals satin jackets. Identical in style with Starter tagging, one example has “20” (Frank) handwritten over the label, the other “18” (Saberhagen). “Royals” appears across the chest in tackle twill, with additional crests over the left sleeves. Both jackets remain in excellent condition. 4) Kansas City Royals circa late-1970s game-worn helmet. An ABC model in Royals blue, a KC decal sits over the front, with the padding intact. Good use is shown, with a number of marks, scratches and abrasions present. 5&6) 2 pairs of Kansas City A’s uniform stirrups. One pair hails from 1955-60, in dark navy with red striping bands along with “139” chain-stitched. The other from circa 1963-66, wool, in solid green. 7) Byron Geddis’ 2004 Kansas City Royals game-worn undershirt. Made by Majestic in solid blue, Geddis has signed across the front adding “Rookie Game Used 2004”. Good use is exhibited with pilling present. The White jacket will be accompanied by an LOA, while the Geddis undershirt will come with a COA.
