Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Charter member of the American Association in 1882, the Big Red Machine joined the National League in 1890, playing in the Central division since 1994. We have a pair of game-worn Cincinnati Reds jerseys for your collecting consideration, with an example worn and signed by Ray Knight in 1979 along with a jersey worn by Charlie Puleo in 1984. Matched stylistically despite a five-year separation, Rawlings labels sits on the inside hem, with “2 inch extra length” and “Set 1 1984” tags on the Puleo jersey, while the Knight example has “Set 1 1979”. A partially embroidered Reds crest sits over the left breast, with “25” on the front and verso of each in tackle twill. Knight has signed along the inside of the collar, and the signature displays well.
While completely matched, the Knight jersey is actually a beige tone, while the Puleo jersey is brighter white. With just a few random and unobtrusive marks on each jersey, the Puleo example also exhibits some light sweat staining around the armpit sections.
