The Hitless Wonders, South Side Park, Eddie Collins, Charles Comiskey, Joe Jackson, Black Sox Scandal, Luke Appling, Nellie Fox, Disco Demolition Night and the list goes on. The Chicago White Sox continue to be one of the most venerated and collected teams in the hobby, with any and all game-worn material highly contested. We have a great trio of game-worn Sox jerseys, spanning roughly a decade from 1972-1982, with a road example worn by Buddy Bradford in 1972, a home jersey worn by Bobby Winkles in 1979 and a second home example donned by LaMarr Hoyt in 1982. The Bradford jersey will be accompanied by an LOA.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Buddy Bradford’s 1972 Chicago White Sox game-worn road jersey. Most likely recycled with no embroidered name present, with Wilson tagging along the lower front left tail, along with a “72 Set 2” date/set swatch. Styled with “Chicago” in script across the chest fashioned from tackle twill, “White Sox” appears chain-stitched below. With some fading to the identifiers, the jersey sports some light dirt staining in spots, along with loose threading around the collar. 2) Bobby Winkles’ 1979 Chicago White Sox game-worn home jersey. Size tagging from Capital Ace is affixed to the collar, with “Chicago” partially embroidered across the chest, the large-collared jersey also has “1” on verso, with “Winkles” arching above in matching material. Some light staining is present on the lower front. We should also note that the Winkles jersey was recycled to a farm team with evidence of a former nameplate which was added over the Winkles original nameplate, with evidence of another team logo patch that was added over the original Chicago lettering. 3) LaMarr Hoyt’s 1982 Chicago White Sox game-worn home jersey. Tagging from Medalist sits on the lower front, with an “82 Hoyt 44” swatch on the inside of the reverse tail. “Sox” appears straight across the chest in wide tackle twill, with “31” and “Hoyt” on verso in matching material. With no unsightly wear or marks, the garment remains in beautiful condition.
