Charter members of the American Association in 1882, St. Louis joined the National League circuit a decade later, with the Cardinals moniker established in 1900. Members of the Central Division since 1994, the Cards have won an impressive 19 NL pennants, along with 11 Fall Classic triumphs. We have a great group of game-worn Cards items totaling 4, spanning from roughly 1987 to 2003. Included, we have a home jersey worn by Lance Johnson in 1987, a pre-game example from the 1990s donned by Bernard Gilkey and a road jersey worn by Juan Acevedo in 1998. Lastly, we have a home jersey that was worn by journeyman Wilson Delgado in 2003.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Lance Johnson’s 1987 St Louis Cardinals game-worn jersey. A Rawlings size label sits on the inside front tail, with an attractive chain-stitched Cards team crest. “21” appears on the front and verso in dual-colour tackle twill, with the 1987 World Series crest over the right sleeve. With just a few light stains over the collar and right shoulder, the jersey survives in beautiful condition. 2) Bernard Gilkey’s 1990s St Louis Cardinals game-worn jersey. A Rawlings size label sits on the front tail including handwritten “23”, with the Cards monogram over the left breast in tackle twill. “23” appears on verso in matching material, with “Gilkey” over the nameplate. Just a few light stains over the “2” on verso are present. 3) Juan Acevedo’s 1998 St Louis Cardinals game-worn jersey. A Rawlings size label sits on the inside front tail including set tag of “Set 1 1998”, with an attractive chain-stitched Cards team crest. With no unsightly wear or marks, the garment remains in beautiful condition. 4) Wilson Delgado’s 2003 St Louis Cardinals game-worn jersey. A discoloured Majestic label sits on the lower front tail, with an attractive chain-stitched Cards team crest along with “47” on the front and verso in matching tackle twill. Some staining is present along the collar and right shoulder section, with pilling along the lower front.
