One of the oldest National League clubs in existence, the Pittsburgh Pirates began play in the dominant league in 1887, seeing earlier action in the American Association from 1882-86. We have a neat grouping of 6 Pittsburgh Pirates game-worn items, spanning from the late-1940s to late-1990s. We have an attractive Pirates jacket worn by Chuck Tanner circa-1979 and signed, followed by a second Pirates jacket from 1994. Next, we have cleats, also worn by Tanner circa-1979, followed by uniform road pants worn by Brian Gilles in 1999, along with a couple of pairs of game-used Pirates stirrups, with one pair from 1948, the other the 1960s. The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Chuck Tanner’s 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates jacket. In Pirates yellow with Starter tagging along the collar, a gorgeous embroidered team logo sits over the left breast. Tanner has signed just above the team crest adding “1979 World Series Champs #7 Mgr”. With some random wear in spots including on the lower front, the jacket remains in excellent condition. 2) 1994 Pittsburgh Pirates jacket. In yellow and black with Starter tagging and “Pirates” embroidered over the right breast, the size large jacket also features the 1994 All-Star Game patch over the left sleeve. With no unsightly wear, the jacket remains in excellent condition. 3) Chuck Tanner’s circa-1979 cleats. Brooks models in Pirates colours, nice use is shown, with dirt remaining in the spikes. Tanner has signed each in black marker adding “79 W. Series”. 4) Brian Giles’ 1999 Pittsburgh Pirates game-worn road pants. Rawlings tagging sits along the waistband, with “24 Giles” and “36-38-30-99”. Great use is exhibited, with heavy staining along the lower legs along with team repairs on the reverse and over the right knee. 5) Pittsburgh Pirates stirrups. Black with yellow striping, the wool socks have a repair on one stirrup, with a tag affixed stating “1948 – one yr-style”. 6) Pittsburgh Pirates stirrups. Solid black with no accents, according to the accompanying LOA, the stirrups originate from the 1960s.
