Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
All-Star right-hander Doyle Alexander’s 1980 Braves game-worn jersey is a red, white and blue beauty from a season that evoked better days ahead for Atlanta. There are no alterations to Alexander’s white home gamer, which has its original Wilson size 44 tagging in the back of the neck and a small swatch sewn on the left front tail with “80” embroidered in blue thread. Alexander went 14-11 with a shutout and seven complete games in 35 starts in 1980 for the Braves, who finished one game above .500 in their third season of Bobby Cox’s first of two managing stints in Atlanta; Alexander also returned for a second stint with the Braves, who traded him to Detroit for John Smoltz in 1987.
There are a few light brown stains below the numbers on the back.
