Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
One of only five pitchers in MLB history to have 100 wins, 100 saves and 50 complete games, Ron Reed made his first mound appearance with the Atlanta Braves in 1966, and he was also the winning pitcher the evening Hank Aaron ascended as all-time home run king in 1974. This all-original Braves jersey was worn by the Indiana native in 1970. A Wilson size label resides on the lower front tail, with “Reed” appearing embroidered within the “1970-Set 1” date/set swatch affixed to collar. Styled with “Braves” across the chest in attractive script fashioned from navy tackle twill, “38” on verso in matching material is present, with this particular style seeing use from 1968-71. The white pinstriped flannel also features a gorgeous full-colour Braves Indian head crest over the left sleeve.
With just a tiny hole that doesn’t continue through the fabric along the collar, the jersey remains in especially pleasing condition, ideal for prominent display in any advanced flannel collection.
