Nicknamed the Indians to honour 19th century Native-American fielder Louis Sockalexis after Napolean Lajoie’s tenure with the team, the Cleveland baseball club are one of the original American League’s eight charter franchises in 1901. We have a neat group of Indians items for your collecting interest, spanning from roughly the early-1940s to 2004. Included are a pair of game-worn helmets, a pair of Indians jackets, four pairs of uniform pants along with five pairs of game-worn stirrups. 1) Josh Bard’s Cleveland Indians game-worn helmet. An ABC model with padding intact, an Indians decal sits over the front, with “44” on the reverse along with an MLB decal. An Indians label sits on the underside of the brim, with “Josh Bard” handwritten. The helmet shows heavy use, with a ton of marks, scratches and abrasions present. 2) Brandon Phillips 2003-04 Cleveland Indians game-worn helmet. An ABC model with padding intact, an Indians decal sits over the front, with “7” on the reverse along with an MLB decal. An Indians label sits on the underside of the brim, with “B. Phillips” handwritten. The helmet shows good use, with marks and scratches present. 3) Jessie Orosco’s Cleveland Indians jacket. A solid navy number with red collar and cuff accents, a Starter tag sits along the collar, with “Orosco” handwritten along the interior band. With an embroidered Indians crest over the right breast, the jacket remains in beautiful condition. 4) Steve Reed’s 1998 Cleveland Indians jacket. A satin affair in solid red, Starter tagging is present, with “Indians” across the chest in tackle twill. “39” is handwritten along an interior label, with an AL Champs crest over the right sleeve. With no unsightly wear or marks, the garment remains in beautiful condition. 5) 1961 Cleveland Indians game-worn uniform pants. Rawlings tagging sits along the waistband, with a date/size swatch of “Kline 38 28ins 61”. “46” has also been handwritten, with an intact red belt. Just some light staining is present in spots. 6-8) 3 pairs of Cleveland Indians game-worn uniform pants. We have examples worn by Jack Armstrong in 1992, Paul Shuey in 1999 and Roberto Alomar in 2000, with each pair having correct tagging along the waistbands from Russell, with “12” handwritten and crossed-out in the Alomar pair. Each pair shows nice use, with expected light staining along the lower sections. 9-13) 5 pairs of Cleveland Indians game-worn stirrups. We have examples from 1942-44 (worn by Pay Poat), 1942-49, 1958-64 and 1965-69, along with a miscellaneous pair. One pair is solid red with blue and white striping bands, while the other four pairs feature different navy with red and white accent combos. Each pair exhibits use, and remains in very good condition. 14) Billy Traber’s 2003 Cleveland Indians game-worn undershirt. An Under Armour model in solid navy, Traber has signed adding “2003 game-used”. LOAs will accompany both helmets along with the Armstrong pants, with a COA for the Traber shirt.
