Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

The most valuable player at the 1984 Canada Cup tournament, John Tonelli would spend 14 seasons in the NHL shared amongst a number of clubs, but the winger is best remembered as an integral component to the Islanders Stanley Cup dynasty. This Islanders jersey was worn by the superstar circa 1981-82, and it’s been signed. Faded Sandow tagging remains along the collar, with a second rubberized “Sandow SK” crest embroidered onto the back bottom hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the blue mesh V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Tonelli” across the nameplate in matching material.
Heavy use is exhibited on the jersey, with black marks scattered throughout along with board burns with small resulting holes over each sleeve. Some wear is also present on the team crest and reverse numbers. Tonelli has signed within the “2” on verso, with the signature bleeding into the material somewhat.
