Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Currently the general manager of Borås HC in Sweden, defenceman Stefan Persson saw NHL action with only one club, winning four Stanley Cups with the Islanders during his time with the team, from 1977-1986. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Bjurholm native in 1984-85, and it’s been signed. Pedersons tagging is affixed to the collar with handwritten “7”, with a second Pedersons crest embroidered onto the back bottom hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the white mesh V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Persson” across the nameplate in single twill. Stefan has signed beneath the nameplate in black marker, and the signature displays well. An LOA will accompany.
With just a few random marks visible along with some light paint transfer over the left shoulder, the jersey remains in beautiful condition. We should note that the LOA lists this garment as an “early 1980s” example, when it is actually from the 1984-85 NHL season. It should also be noted that there is evidence of a former nameplate that once sat higher than the current example.
