Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Suffering a career-ending eye injury on December 5, 1985 while playing for the IHL's Fort Wayne Komets, Hector Marini had previously spent time in the NHL with both the Islanders and New Jersey, winning Cups with New York in 1981 and 1982. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Timmins native circa 1981-82. Faded Sandow tagging remains along the collar, with a second rubberized “Sandow SK” crest embroidered onto the back bottom hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the white mesh V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Marini” across the nameplate in matching material. An LOA will accompany.
A few dark marks are present on the lower front, with additional examples on the reverse. There is also some paint transfer over the back of the left sleeve.
