Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A New York Islanders 1980 draft choice, Greg Gilbert would spend parts of 8 seasons with the club including winning Cups in 1982 and 1983, before winning a third with the crosstown Rangers in 1994. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Ontario native in 1984-85. Pedersons tagging is affixed to the collar with handwritten “17”, with a second Pedersons crest embroidered onto the back bottom hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the mesh V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Gilbert” across the nameplate in single twill. An LOA will accompany this desirable jersey.
Great use is exhibited, with a number of black marks scattered about including on the lower front striping bands, with board burns over each sleeve. There is also some loose threading in spots, chiefly along the left cuff, with additional dark marks over the team crest.
