Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A product of Boston University, Shawn Bates’ spent time in the NHL with both Boston and the Islanders, with the bulk of his time spent with the latter. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Medford native in the 2002-03 regular season and playoffs, and it’s been signed. Size tagging is affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests on the bottom hem and back necklines respectively. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest partially embroidered in tri-colour tackle twill, the white V-neck has been accented with tri-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with an alternate crest over the right shoulder. The team patch sits on the inside hem, with Bates signing between the verso numbers in black marker, with the signature displaying well. A number of dark marks are present over the lower front and sleeves, with board burns with small resulting holes also present, especially near the right elbow section. According to the accompanying LOA from MeiGray, this jersey is a “White 3rd Regular Season/Stanley Cup Playoffs” example.
