Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Featuring two of the NFC North Division’s most beloved and collected teams, we have a neat group of game-used items totaling 5, representing both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Included are a pair of game-worn jerseys from the franchises, with a Bears home jersey worn by Bryan Cox in 1996, along with a Vikings home example donned by Sammy Johnson circa-1977. There are also game-worn helmets from each club, along with Chicago Bears game-worn uniform pants and belt, signed by Bobby Wade.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Sammy Johnson’s circa-1977 Minnesota Vikings game-worn jersey. Medalist Sand-Knit labeling resides along the lower front, stating “Designed and Tailored Exclusively for the Minnesota Vikings”, with a laundering label along the inside seam. Styled with rubberized front and verso numbers along with sleeve striping bands, the mesh garment also sports “Johnson” across the nameplate in tackle twill. We should also note that the nameplate appears newer, with this version possibly a restored example. Wear is exhibited to the rubberized identifiers, with a few marks just below the left shoulder on the reverse. 2) Bryan Cox’ 1996 Chicago Bears game-worn home jersey. Labels from Champion sit on the lower front, with one example stating “Designed and Tailored Exclusively for Chicago Bears”, with handwritten “2” applied. Styled with dual-colour tackle twill front and verso numbers along with rubberized striping accents, there is also an embroidered NFL shield crest over the front neckline. Nice use is exhibited on the garment, with some light staining to the top of the “5” on verso. 3) 1980s Chicago Bears game-worn helmet. With all padding and strapping intact, a “Bears” decal remains partially affixed over the forehead section, with team decals on either side. Great use is exhibited on the head gear, with a number of scratches, marks and abrasions present, especially over the forehead section. 4) 1980s Minnesota Vikings game-worn helmet. A Riddell model with all padding appearing intact, Vikings decals grace each side, with one example almost detached, with the face mask included but broken off. Nice use is shown, with a number of marks and abrasions present. 5) 1997 Chicago Bears game-worn uniform pants. Nike models with labeling intact along the waistband including “97” year tag, with an “NFL Equipment” crest at the top of the left pant leg. A few handwritten notations have been crossed out illustrating recycled use, with Bobby Wade signing at the top of the right pant leg, adding his number.
