Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The genesis of 24 momentous Stanley Cup victories leaving all competition wanting, the Montreal Canadiens first hoisted Lord Stanley’s grail in the spring of 1916, when the fledgling club came into it’s own lead by HOFers Newsy Lalonde, Didier Pitre, Jack Laviolette and Georges Vezina. We have a rare image of the 1915-16 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. An 11” x 14” photo taken from the composite master slightly out of focus in areas, portrait images of team members are pictured, along with images of the O’Brien and Stanley Cup, with “The Canadian Hockey Club Incorporated” above. “Stanley Cup 1915-16” is handwritten along the reverse, with a stamp from the Sherbrooke Daily Record Printing company, with the photo originating from roughly the 1930s.
The photo is on fairly firm stock with a number of minor issues present, with surface and corner wear along with thorough creasing in spots including along the top border. There are also a few small pencil notations present.
