Defenseman Kari Eloranta wore this circa-1979 world championships Finland national team gamer before crossing the pond to play in the NHL for Calgary and St. Louis. Eloranta was a fixture for Finland over his 20-year career, winning silver at the 1988 Calgary Games in one of his three Olympic appearances as well as playing in the world championships and Canada Cup. Eloranta’s Finland cotton knit gamer, which is attributed to the 1979 world championships, has size “50-52 M” manufacturer’s laundry instruction tagging sits in the back of the neck. Game wear includes board burns and black marks on the sleeves, particularly on the left. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
“Suomi” on the front is sewn-on red on white double twill letters above a sewn-on screened Finland crest, with a screened Finland crest patch sewn on the left breast. Cloth nameplate with screened last name is sewn on the back. No. 9 is sewn-on white twill on the back and both sleeves. There are a few reddish-brown stains on the right rear tail.
