Made infamous due to the tragic story associated with Bill Barilko, the 1951 Stanley Cup Finals are also noteworthy as each game had to be decided in overtime. This lighter was presented to Leafs trainer Thomas Daly for his participation with the club. A Ronson Whirlwind model at 1 ¾” x 2 ¼”, a full colour enamel Toronto coat of arms sits embossed along the front, with engraved text on the reverse that reads in full, “Presented by City of Toronto to Thomas Daly (Trainer) Maple Leaf Hockey Club Stanley Cup Winners Season 1950-51”. The lighter currently is not operational, and it suffers from expected handling wear with scratches and marks present from prolonged use.
