Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Post-retirement comebacks are never easy, with the majority attempted unsuccessful. A rare exception to this cruel reality, Mario Lemieux would dress for his first comeback game two days after Christmas in 2000, silencing all naysayers with 3 points in the contest including a goal. This stick hails from that very game, and it’s been signed by the superstar. A Nike model in solid black with yellow Penguins accents, “Lemieux” appears stamped-on, along with an affixed sticker above with “1”. The stick retains its tape on the blade and handle, with a second affixed sticker on the top side of the shaft that reads “1st Goal 12/27/00 vs Toronto”. Lemieux has signed in black marker along the lower shaft, and the signature displays beautifully. A hologram numbered “MLF0468” from the Mario Lemieux Foundation has been placed near the signature, with a matching COA to accompany.
Pittsburgh Penguins owner and player Mario Lemieux scored his first goal since returning as a player against the Toronto Maple Leafs during the second period of the December 27th 2000 game at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. Jagr assisted on the goal. Penguins' won 5-0 over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
