Chosen 27th overall by Montreal in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft, Gaston Gingras would originally spend three seasons with the Canadiens from 1979-83 before moving on to the Toronto Maple Leafs. This original replica trophy was produced for the NHL by Boffey and presented to Gingras in recognition of Montreal’s status as Eastern Conference champions in 1980-81. The H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy plaque on the front of the 2" high wood base has Gingras’ full name engraved on it, while a plaque on the reverse reads, "N.H.L Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1980-81". The trophy stands just over 13" tall, with the lid removable. The green felt bottom of the base is also autographed by Gingras, with the trophy originating from his personal collection.
The trophy exhibits expected handling wear including some tarnishing, with some wear around the rim. There is also some dust in tight areas, with the wooden base showing minimal wear.
