One of his best seasons to date, Sidney Crosby was awarded the Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophies along with the Ted Lindsay Award in 2013-14, with the superstar finishing the season with 104 points in 80 games played. This Pittsburgh Penguins captain’s jersey was worn by the phenom in the first and second round of the 2013-14 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it’s been photo-matched to each of the 7 games he played in.
Size tagging from CCM sits affixed to the collar along with a Reebok name band, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests gracing the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring a large and partially embroidered Penguins team crest that saw re-use beginning in 2002, the V-neck sweater have been accented with oversized and textured tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with matching-style letters over the nameplate. The team patch is located on the inside hem, and it divulges the garment’s status as a “2013-14 Playoff Game Jersey”. Equipment manager Dana Heinze has also signed the fight strap, with a chip from JerseyTRAK inserted nearby. An LOA will accompany along with a second document from JerseyTRAK.
Game-wear on the important sweater includes just a few marks present on the lower front and over the left sleeve, with some loose threading on both cuffs. The playoff dates the jersey was worn in are listed on an accompanying JerseyTRAK document, and they include 3 games from the first round against Columbus including 04/16/2014, 04/19/2014 and 04/26/2014. The second round games the jersey was worn in against the Rangers includes 05/02/2014, 05/09/2014 and 05/13/2014. Recently beginning his 12th NHL season, Crosby has more than proven his deserving status as one of modern hockey’s greatest performers. He remains the youngest player to record both 100 and 200 point seasons, as well as being the youngest player to be named to the First All-Star Team. He is also the youngest NHL captain in history to claim Lord Stanley’s hardware. What’s next for the two-time Stanley Cup winner? Only time will tell.
