Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Any items associated with the infancy of the Montreal Expos are highly desirable and seldom seen, as is the case with this circa-1970 Expos uniform that includes both the jersey and pants. A Rawlings label appears along the lower front with “J. Qualls” directly beneath, with the collar void of any tagging. The team’s logo appears in tackle twill with “Expos” below, with numbers on the front and verso in matching tackle twill. The matching pants have a Rawlings label along the waistband, with no other identifiers. Expos jerseys and pants in 1970 were produced by Wilson, and based on the Rawling's tagging, the #8 on front repositioned (the team crest may have been as well), and the fact that Jim Qualls didn't wear #8 with the Expos in 1970 (Boots Day did in 1970), leads us to believe this uniform was most likely a sample shown/presented to the team.
The pants exhibit use, with some light staining in places along with a repair on the lower right pant leg. The jersey remains in gorgeous condition with just some extremely light staining taking place in a few spots along with residue visible around the “8” on front from its repositioning.
